SeasideK9s is owned and operated by a veteran and a teacher who are commited to humane K9 care! We take pride in providing our pups a structured day of fresh air, exercise and socialization. Since our pack is small, we can focus on what every pup needs to be successful during their time with us!
INDIVIDUALIZED PET CARE
SeasideK9s is a dog retreat that specializes in accommodating dogs of all breeds and personalities. We have a team of skilled staff who are knowledgeable in reading canine body language and providing structured introductions for new dogs.
SeasideK9s also utilizes multiple dog training methods, such as positive reinforcement, clicker training, luring, shaping, and capturing. The staff at SeasideK9s believe that all dogs thrive when they are set up for success. This is why we also reinforce behavior expectations for each individual dog in a positive and constructive way. Doing so creates a safe and welcoming environment for all dogs, where they can feel comfortable to be their best selves.
SeasideK9s maintains a staff-to-dog ratio of 1:15 at all times, in line with industry best practices. Often times, our staff-to-dog ratio is lower, so that we can facilitate smaller play groups and enrichment activities. We have a maximum capacity of 25 dogs. There is staff on site 24/7 in order to care for dogs who are sleeping over.
CANINE ENRICHMENT
SeasideK9s is committed to providing a comprehensive and well-rounded experience for dogs by incorporating canine enrichment into all services we offer. Our approach focuses on the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of every dog in order to ensure that every pup stays happy and engaged throughout their stay at our seaside retreat.
The seven types of enrichment offered at SeasideK9s include: social, occupational, sensory, nutritional, physical, cognitive, and environmental. Just like humans, dogs need a variety of activities to keep them happy, engaged, and growing!
All enrichment is tailored to each dog’s individual needs, preferences, and abilities which ensures a personalized and enjoyable experience for every pack member. Our holistic approach to dog care results in a happier, healthier, and better-adjusted dog during their stay with us and when they return home to you!
COMFORT & CONSISTENCY
SeasideK9s believes that dogs thrive on routine and structure which is why we have a daily schedule for enrichment, feeding, and rest periods in order to create consistency and security for all pups.
Our newly renovated dog retreat has an interior of 1,800 square feet in addition to 12,000 square feet of fully fenced outdoor space. Your pup has access to multiple play spaces, inside and out, which enables us to separate play groups by size, temperament, and canine preferences.
Our interior is climate controlled with central AC and heat. The interior is inspired by cozy home environments, our indoor and outdoor spaces are furnished with comfortable furniture and bedding that enable dogs to rest in between scheduled activities. This also prevents dogs from becoming too overstimulated during their time with us. Self soothing and being calm is skill that is important for all dogs to learn. We ensure that dogs are getting adequate time to rest in between play groups and enrichment activities.
Your pup’s health and safety is our priority! Our team has over 30 years of combined experience with dogs of all ages, breeds, temperaments, and special needs. We are all certified in animal first aid and CPR, and trained in medication administration including daily injections for insulin and IV fluids. As a result, we are equipped to handle dogs with various medical conditions and are prepared to respond quickly and calmly in case of any emergency.
We require all pack members to be up to date on vaccinations including rabies, distemper, and bordetella. We also strongly recommend canine influenza, lyme, and leptospirosis vaccines for social and active pups living in the New England area. Although vaccines are never 100% effectives, they minimize transmission of highly contagious diseases that can spread to other pets and humans.
Our facility is equipped with AerapyⓇ UV Disinfection Technology in both the HVAC unit, ductwork, and with additional standalone units on the walls in each room. AerapyⓇ kills 99.9% of tested virus and bacterial pathogens. In addition, we have 3 commercial air scrubbers and adequate ventilate to ensure your pup is kept as healthy and safe as possible from the spread of bacteria and communicable diseases.
We also clean and sanitize our interior and exterior spaces with germicidal cleaner and disinfectant daily. Our team takes all possible precautions to ensure the health and safety of our pack!
At SeasideK9s our pups spend most of their time playing or interacting with other dogs or staff. The new facility has many different indoor and outdoor spaces for play and enrichment activities.
We rotate bigger and smaller play groups throughout the day based on which dogs are in attendance. The play groups are selected based on play styles, temperament, canine preferences, size, and energy levels. We always maintain a staff ratio of at least 1 person to every 15 dogs which is in line with industry best standards. Often times, our staff-to-dog ratio is lower.
When dogs are in play groups, staff closely supervise, photograph, and facilitate interactions between all dogs, while also teaching and reinforcing prosocial behaviors.
One of the primary benefits of day camp is the opportunity for pups to interact and socialize with other K9s. This exposure helps them develop essential social skills, become more confident, and learn how to communicate effectively with all types of dogs.
Regular physical activity is also crucial for a dog’s overall health and well-being. Our outdoor play yards have 12,000 square feet for dogs to run, walk, and play. We have agility equipment that we utilize as one of our enrichment activities. We also offer small pack walks for an additional fee for dogs that would benefit from some extra TLC while with us.
